A veteran-owned, commercially certified diving company built to fill the gap between casual and commercial — bringing professional expertise to every vessel we service.
Man Overboard began operations in spring 2017. Jeff Thomas, a U.S. Army veteran and former law enforcement officer, studied the Charleston market after relocating from northeastern North Carolina in 2016 and identified a clear gap in local marine services — and built Man Overboard to fill it.
The business model sits between a guy using a hookah rig and a full commercial dive operation. That means you get commercial-grade equipment, certified commercial divers, and the documentation that comes with professional service — without the overhead of calling a large firm for routine work. And unlike a large operation, we know every customer by name.
Jeff trained at Divers Academy International in Erial, NJ, graduating with honors, and worked for multiple professional dive operations from the Gulf Coast to the Great Lakes before settling in Charleston. That breadth of commercial experience is what Man Overboard brings to every job, whether it's a routine hull cleaning or a complex underwater inspection.
We treat every job and every customer with the same level of care, regardless of vessel size or job complexity.
We believe you should know your service will be completed when we say it will be — and that it'll be done correctly.
Man Overboard respects our customers, their vessels, and the water we work in. Responsible practices on every dive.
No surprises. Our pricing is straightforward and we walk you through any applicable fees before booking.
